Recent decades have seen rapid growth in both the number and diversity of strategies for accelerating agricultural development and rural transformation in developing countries, particularly where smallholder farming systems remain a major component of agrifood systems and where private sector activity is expanding.
Current thinking on agricultural development and rural transformation calls for integrating many disparate interventions for an array of issues and challenges into a functional “systems approach.”
